WHAT ARE THE WALKS LIKE?

EASY: Relaxed hikes suitable for large dog owners, older people or beginners who want great views without going too high/too far. These are generally around 6 miles long and take on average 4-5 hours to complete.  Paths may be rocky in places with some short, steep parts. Occasionally we may need to cross streams with no bridges.

MODERATE: Medium height walks which are great for beginners and/or dogs who want something a bit more challenging but nothing too demanding.  Generally between 5-8 miles long and up to 700m in height. These routes usually take between 5-6 hours to complete. Again the paths may be rocky in places and occasionally streams without bridges may be crossed. We may overlook cliffs. Please see our Access Statement for further information.

STRENUOUS: These are the high level routes which have a lot of steep ground (but no named scrambles such as Sharp Edge, Striding Edge, etc). Suitable for fit, people and/or dogs only (these routes are not recommended for big dogs). Distances are between 6-10 miles long and up to 900m in height. The time taken is usually around 6-8 hours. Paths will be rocky, steep and may involve some hands-on scrambling over boulders at times (but not for long periods - we don't do Striding Edge, Swirral Edge, Sharp Edge, Jack's Rake or any other named/extended scramble). We will likely overlook cliffs or steep drops on some of these walks. Please see Access Statement for further information.

Hill walking and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or even death. By returning the booking form, you are stating that you accept these risks and that you are responsible for your own actions. Please note we cannot currently accept anyone under the age of 18. (In order to take children all outdoor activity providers need an AALA license - and we haven't applied for one yet!).  For all strenuous walks you (and your dog(s)) should be fit enough to complete 6-10 miles on mountainous terrain up to heights of 978m
