"I had a fantastic beginners' navigation day with Sharon today. She went through everything very slowly as I'd asked her to, as map reading is something I find quite challenging to get my head around. No question was made to feel 'stupid' even though no doubt they probably were! I've come away feeling so much more confident and with some good resources provided by Sharon. As well as the navigation practice I also had a great tour around the area above the Honister slate mine, where Sharon who has extensive knowledge of the area pointed out many of the Wainwrights and gave me great advice on routes etc. I also got a lovely glimpse in the distance of Innominate Tarn on Haystacks. Sharon is lovely company and I felt confident that I was in very safe hands today. I would highly recommend the navigation course and no doubt her guided walks will also be brilliant!" "What a pleasure it was to go on a guided walk with Sharon of Misty Guided Walks. We started off from Seathwaite Farm heading for Esk Pike and Seathwaite Fell. Walking up the valley next to the river the scenery is absolutely stunning. We were lucky with weather too and had a beautiful sunny day with clear views. Sharon is very knowledgable about geology amd pointed out interesting features on the way up the route. On the spectacular rocky Esk Pike we had a sandwich while taking in the panoramic view. She pointed out the names of the fells surrounding us and the pretty tarns. The view of magnificent Scafell Pike was amazing. We highly recommend Sharon. We had a wonderful day yesterday walking up Haystacks from Honister Slate Mine. This was a new area of the lakes for us and we really appreciated Sharon’s expert knowledge of the area and not only had a lovely walk, but learnt a lot about the area/terrain, and flora and fauna. Sharon tailored the walk specifically for us as one of us has a fear of heights and helped us navigate around areas that were more tricky in this case. After todays walk we now feel confident to return to this area again and explore further on our own, but we will definitely be booking in again for another guided walk or navigation day in the near future.” - Helen & Andy - May 2023

"Until preparing for my course with Sharon, I had never owned an OS map and my compass was a bookmark. Sharon has a warm, friendly smile and welcome which immediately puts you at ease. She has so much hands on experience and knowledge that you learn so much more than how to navigate. I am astounded that I was able to find my bearings, set my map, work out how far, how long and actually head in the right direction. Sharon is very skilled in imparting information in a way you can understand it and has a lovely way of coaxing you into the right direction when you veer off course.
