Navigation Skills Days

Our navigation courses include all the basic skills you need to know to get around on the hills safely. It's a fun, relaxed atmosphere with no boring classroom stuff!

On the day you will learn about:

The 5 D's of navigation

Contours and other map features

Setting the map

Compass bearings

Aiming off

Handrailing

Catchment features

Back bearings

Timing

How to get a grid reference

We never take more than 6 out at a time so everyone gets the best attention.

Just £40 per person for open group days, £50 for private days

(Min 3 in group for open group days, min 2 in group for private guided day)

We have a no-rush policy so there's no need to worry if you feel you might slow everyone down.

Areas visited: Borrowdale, Keswick, Thirlmere

Guided Walks

Whether you're looking to bag a few Wainwrights or just want to go somewhere a little different, we have something for you. Whether it's valley walks to mid-height fells, to the Northern Lakeland giants, we have plenty to choose from..

Again there's no rushing and no named scrambles so it's ideal for people who love hiking but don't like scrambling/sheer drops, or for those who worry they might hold everyone up. Our average walk length is around 6-8 miles and the group ratio never exceeds 1:6. We are dog friendly but also love walks without dogs!

Just £50 per person, min 2 - max 6 in a group (private guided)

We don't do Striding Edge, Sharp Edge, Jack's Rake, Scafell Pike or Scafell, sorry

Over 18's only - Dogs to be kept on leads please.
